Ah, summertime! The season of sun, fun, and sweaty fur. As the mercury rises, it’s time to get creative and make the most of these dog days with your furry best friend. If you are like us, we like to get together with other friends that appreciate a bit of canine companionship.
So, in the spirit of fellowship and good times with our best friends (furry and otherwise) we thought we'd offer up a few fun activities that will ensure you and your pooch have a blast. Ready to Paw-ty?
Doggy Pool Parties: Forget the boring old splash pads. Invest in a kiddie pool and throw a doggy pool party! Fill it with water and some floating toys, then invite your dog’s best canine pals. Don’t forget the tiny doggy sunglasses and sunscreen (yes, dog sunscreen exists). Watching a bunch of dogs splash around like maniacs is guaranteed to have you laughing till you cry.
Paw-Painting Masterpieces: Channel your inner Picasso and help your dog create a masterpiece. All you need is some dog-safe, non-toxic paint and a large canvas. Dip those paws in paint and let your dog trot across the canvas. It’s messy, chaotic, and hilarious – but by the end, you’ll have a unique piece of art to proudly display. Plus, dogs love the extra attention and the chance to get a little messy.
Canine Ice Cream Socials: Take your dog on an ice cream date! Many places now offer dog-friendly ice cream. Watch your dog’s face light up as they experience the joy of frozen treats. The messy aftermath is worth every second of the delight and amusement. Pro tip: Bring a towel. Or five.
Doggy Obstacle Course: Set up an obstacle course in your backyard using hula hoops, cones, and tunnels. Watching your dog navigate the course (or hilariously fail) will provide endless entertainment. Add some treats at the end for motivation and cheer them on like they’re in the Olympics.
Bubble Chasing Extravaganza: Grab a bottle of pet-safe bubbles and head outside. Dogs love to chase and pop bubbles, and watching them leap and bound around the yard in pursuit of these elusive floating targets is pure comedy gold. Just be prepared for lots of joyful barking and possibly a few clumsy collisions.
So there you have it – five activities guaranteed to bring joy, laughter, and maybe a little chaos to your summer days. Remember, the best part of any activity is the time spent together, making memories (and funny stories) with your four-legged friend.
Happy summer!
